2016 Jaguar F-TYPE Review - St. Petersburg, FL

 Performance

The 2016 Jaguar F-Type comes in a choice of three different engines. They are each equipped with a supercharger, and come in a 3.0 liter engine, and can deliver either 340 or 380 horsepower, or a 5.0 liter engine, which delivers an amazing 550 horsepower. With the smaller engine (in the base model), the sports car can do 0-60 in just 5.5 seconds; but Jaguar says that the AWD R model can hit 60 in just 3.5 seconds.

There are two transmissions to choose from. You can select the six-speed manual transmission with a short stick for rapid sifting, or you can choose the Quickshift 8-speed automatic. The Quickshift changes gears so smoothly that you won't even be able to tell when it changes gears. Its top speed is 161 mph and it will get 28 mpg on the highway. The steering wheel has paddle shifters with automatic transmissions.

 Interior

The new 2016 model Jaguar F-Type is also available as a convertible. The roof opens or closes in just 12 seconds, and you can be moving up to 30-mph while doing so. More light can now get into the interior through the new panoramic roof on all of the coupe models. A manually sliding panel provides a black out when needed. The two seats are leather, and so is the steering wheel. On the S and R models, a racing-style steering wheel is standard equipment. As an option, the steering wheel can be heated when driving on those cool days.

 Features

When it comes to entertainment and tech, you get just what you would expect from a world class car like Jaguar. Each model is equipped with Bluetooth® connectivity, has a 12-speaker Meridian stereo system which puts out an incredible 770 watts of power, satellite radio and voice activated navigation, and one-touch windows.

The 8-inch Touchscreen controls your audio, navigation and the telephone. Audio controls are also mounted on the steering wheel. Dash lights colors can be changed to match the mood, giving you choices between Phosphor Blue, Pale Blue, Coral, or Red. The side mirrors are equipped with blind spot monitoring. Your car’s radar sensors will display an illuminated warning signal in your mirror when another car is in your blind spot.

 Safety

Driving the 2016 Jaguar will not leave you disappointed in terms of safety. As you would expect, it incorporates the latest advanced technology. This includes emergency braking assist technology and four-wheel anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitoring, traction and stability control, and an airbag system with head protection chambers for the driver.It also has high-intensity Xenon headlights that are self-leveling and dusk sensing. When they get dirty, they also have high-pressure washing systems that are built-in to keep them clean.
