Hatchbacks came, and we thought that they would outshine the sedan - and for a moment they did - until we realized that we just cannot do without the sedan's privacy and practicality. Midsize sedans are now taking over mainly because they are more spacious than compact ones but fit into that squeezed parking spot that a full-size won't. Needless to say, the more luxurious they come, the better; and none in this class beats the 2016 Jaguar XF in comfort and royalty. Performance

In a dramatic twist, Jaguar trimmed the 2016 Jaguar XF's engine lineup to only two strengths of the supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. There are now four available models of the XF with the base level spitting out 340 hp @ 6500 rpm while the top of the range trim brags of 380 horsepower. Both engine versions give a maximum of 332 lb-ft @ 3,500-5,000 rpm. The powerful engine is coupled to an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission that makes it possible to gallop from 0-60 mph at an impressive 5.2 seconds. With EPA-estimated fuel economy set at 20/30 mpg city/highway*, it is efficient as well as powerful. Although 2016 Infiniti Q70 offers more trim levels than the Jaguar XF, they are all fitted with a less powerful engine and an unremarkable 7-speed automatic transmission that leave a lot to be desired. The base model comes with a 3.7 L V6 engine that is only good for 330 hp @ 7,000 rpm and 270 lb-ft @ 5,200 rpm. Higher trims offer a little bit more power but are thirstier fuel guzzlers and slower accelerators.

Interior

Jaguar combines renowned British common sense has with passion and a touch of emotion. The first thing you will notice as you settle into the luxurious seats of the XF is the pulsating starter button eagerly throbbing in tune with your heartbeat on the center console. Jaguar keeps you connected and entertained through Jaguar InControl® Touch that now features a more responsive 8-inch touchscreen. An optional "Pro" version of the system expands the touchscreen to 10.2 inches and substitutes the gauge cluster with a 12.3-inch display. Lengthened wheelbase creates more headroom and a larger trunk capacity. Unlike the Infiniti Q70, the Jag offers comfort and ultimate control to both the driver and passengers. The Infiniti offers a considerable amount of rear legroom but lack of a rear entertainment system and rear climate, or audio controls leaves the rear passengers feeling neglected.

Safety

When we examine the 2016 Jaguar XF, we can only conclude that Jaguar consulted with the most experienced drivers while designing it - because they seem to have thought of everything. A wide sunroof lets in a refreshing amount of natural light while automatic Xenon headlights makes day out of even the darkest nights. LED running lights and taillights, a rearview camera, automatic wipers, and auto-dimming mirrors, are meant to give you an unmatched driving experience. If comfort is what you are going for, then you will enjoy leatherette upholstery, eight-way power front seats complete with driver memory settings, 40/20/40-split folding rear seatbacks, and a power-adjustable leather-wrapped steering wheel with shift paddles that come standard with each trim of the XF. The cabin is an entertainment center complete with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 5-inch driver information display, and an 11-speaker Meridian sound system connected to a HD radio and a powerful USB port. To spice things up, Jaguar added Bluetooth connectivity and dual-zone automatic climate control.
