2016 Jaguar XF vs 2015 Jaguar XF
Serving Clearwater, Tampa, Largo, St. Petersburg, Palm Harbor, FL
Jaguar first introduced the XF in 2008 as mid-size, luxury, four-door sedan. Competing in a crowded class comprised of some of the automotive industries biggest players, the Jaguar XF has held its own over the years. With the release of the 2016 model, reflect and see how it compares to the 2015 model.
Performance
The standard turbocharged four-cylinder, 240-horsepower, engine moves the 2015 Jaguar XF quickly enough for most, but for speed-demon drivers there is the supercharged V-6, 380-horsepower, option as well as a naturally-aspirated V-8 engine. The V-6 is equipped with a stop/start engine immobilizer to increase fuel economy. The supercharged 470- or 510-horsepower V-8 is the tailored to drivers who want stunning performance with zero to 60 mph acceleration times of 4.9 seconds or less. All 2015 XFs are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while only the V-6 has optional all-wheel-drive. Topping out all the variations is the limited-edition XFR-S, powered by supercharged V-8 making 550 horsepower can go from zero to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and reach top speed at 186 mph.
Power in the 2016 XF comes from either of two supercharged V-6 engines options, tuned to produce either 340 or 380 horsepower. Diesel engines are also available for the 2016 model year. An eight-speed automatic with almost faultless gear selection and smooth shift engagement is the only transmission available for now. All-wheel drive is now available in all trims, is chain-driven with power distributed from rear to front as needed. The 2016 XF gets a traction control system that governs the brakes and throttle in low-friction takeoffs. The stability control system incorporates a torque vector which brakes inside wheels for better cornering.
Appearance
Ultra-modern and more than a little sensational, the 2015 XF is unmistakably a Jaguar that looks not quite like any before it. Several years into its production run, the XF has had only mild styling modifications and has no need for anything more. The 2015 Jaguar XF still looks sleek, modern, and dynamic. It fits into the luxury sedan market better than ever.
Attractively proportioned and handsomely detailed, the 2016 Jaguar XF replaces a sedan often said to be the most beautiful of its class. Sculpted aluminum panels matted with wrap-around LED tail lamps blend seamlessly around the car. Up front, an upright front grille crowns the front fascia as well as signature J-Blade LED daytime running lights add aggressive styling ques.
Safety
The 2015 XF car has earned a four-star rating in rigorous European crash tests. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, anti-lock brakes, stability control, and active front headrests. Rear parking sensors are standard as are front sensors, a rearview camera, and blind-spot monitors. Adaptive cruise control with a collision warning system is an option on all 2015 models.
No crash-test scores are yet available, but the 2016 XF bonded body structure and safety technology give it a head start in safety comparisons. XF safety technology is state of the art: Surround-view cameras, full light-emitting diode headlights, a laser-projected heads-up display, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitors, park-assist, and an autonomous braking system with cameras to detect obstacles and stop the car to avoid them.
While the 2015 Jaguar XF was already an amazing vehicle, the 2016 XF continues to raise the bar. Equipped with the latest technology and materials, it will be hard to be disappointed. Call today to schedule a test drive.
