The 2016 Jaguar XF is a transformation of the popular 2015 Jaguar XF. Although it isn't dramatically different looking, the new XF is definitely a new offering. Jaguar drivers will enjoy the changes. .
Performance
The 2015 Jaguar XF offered a turbocharged four-cylinder, V-6 and V-8 engines. The 2016 Jaguar XF has updated that line-up. The streamlined options include two supercharged engines. The 3-liter supercharged V-6 carries over from 2016. It cranks out 340 horsepower. The new supercharged V-6 cranks out 380 horsepower. Both offer an exciting 332 lb.-ft. of torque thrust. Also new, the dampers have been retuned. This makes the standard dampers more competitive and adds even more sport to the adaptive dampers. The adaptive system includes three driver-selectable modes. When paired with AWD, Adaptive Surface Response can react automatically to slippery road conditions. AWD can brake an inside wheel to achieve better cornering. Car and Driver reports that the all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive models can race from zero to 60 mph in a swift 5.1 seconds.
Appearance
The 2016 Jaguar XF didn't need to change its style to look modern and inviting. Yet Jaguar has given it some nips and tucks to keep it contemporary and fresh. The most obvious difference between the 2015 and 2016 editions is the addition of quarter-windows. Nestled in the C-pillars, these add to the feeling of an elongated greenhouse. New headlights dress the front while new taillights dress the back. Frankly, the biggest change is under the skin. The new Jaguar XF is composed of more military-grade lightweight aluminum. This has allowed it to drop 132 pounds from the rear-wheel drivetrain edition and 265 pounds from the all-wheel drive edition. This is particularly impressive because the wheelbase has been stretched by two inches. That means a bump in back-row leg- and knee room.
The 2016 interior contains many of the same choices as before, but it has added a bigger touchscreen with more InControl apps and available InControl WiFi. Shoppers can choose among numerous Luxtec and leather upholstery choices. Standards include eight-way power front seats and a 40/20/40 split rear seat. Two rows of heated seats, ventilated front seats, and a multi-zone programmable thermostat can ensure your comfort.
Safety
The 2016 Jaguar XF is offering even more crash avoidance features. How much you use them is up to you, but these automated features are there for the asking. The forward collision warning reacts with automatic braking when needed. The lane watch reacts with brief hands-free steering to correct the car's trajectory. A head-up display can post your speed for easy reference while an Intelligent Speed Limiter can adjust the cruise control to match speed limit signs. Adaptive cruise control can handle stop-and-go traffic. The semi-automated parking system reduces stress for both perpendicular and parallel maneuvers. There's even a drowsiness monitor that can reduce the chances of an accident caused by sleepy or distracted drivers. Other protections include a blind spot monitor, adaptive forward lighting, and intelligent high beams. The new InControl Protect system can summon emergency responders, if it detects an accident.
