Speedy and sexy, the 2017 Jaguar XF sports sedan takes up the challenges laid down by the 2016 Jaguar XF. You’ll find much to like in either model. The biggest addition is a new turbodiesel engine in 2017.

Performance Upgrade

The 2016 Jaguar XF limited its lineup to V6 engine choices. The 3.0 L V6 cranks out a healthy 340 horsepower. The XF S edition supercharges the engine to achieve 380 horsepower. Either way the driver commands 332 lb.-ft. of torque thrust. Retuned dampers help make these engines more competitive. The S trim also has an adaptive suspension with driver-adjustable settings. Top V6 fuel economy is 30 mpg highway*.

A new turbodiesel has been added to the 2017 lineup. The 2.0 L engine is a four-cylinder unit capable of delivering 180 horsepower. More importantly, it generates 318 lb.-ft. of torque for flawless acceleration. All Surface Progress Control maximizes traction when the cruise control is engaged. Adaptive Surface Response works with the all-wheel drivetrain. This reacts in real time to slippery conditions. During cornering, AWD may brake an inner wheel to regulate speed. An eight-speed automatic transmission helps the car manage the 0-60 mph sprint in 5.1 seconds.

Appearance

The 2017 Jaguar XF retains the elegant profile and styling of the 2016 edition. Quarter windows are nestled in the C-pillars, giving this car a distinct look. Among the updates, you’ll find LED running lamps, automatic xenon headlights, and nighttime approach lighting. The wheelbase has grown by two inches, increasing leg- and knee-room on the back. The car starts with the push of a button, and the temperature can be regulated automatically by inputs from both front seat positions. The driver enjoys a power seat and power-adjusting steering wheel .The eight-inch touchscreen controls your Bluetooth streaming audio and HD radio. InControl apps and available InControl WiFi add to the entertainment and information possibilities. Higher trim levels add leather upholstery, blue or multicolor ambient lighting, and a simulated suede headliner. Power closing doors, a power trunk lid, and rear sunshades are also on the menu.

Safety Feature Additions

The 2016 Jaguar offered many safety and crash avoidance systems. For 2017, Jaguar makes even more equipment available. A vision pack adds automatic high beams and adaptive LED headlights. It also has a rear cross-traffic alert, complementing a blind spot monitor. The R-Sport has all of these plus it adds a lane watch with an assist. The forward collision system has automatic emergency braking to reduce the chances of a bad wreck. A Driver Assistance pack really rounds out your safety equipment. The surround-view camera and a self-parking system can prevent scrapes with trees, curbs, neighboring vehicles, and other obstacles.
